One of the most common distractions is texting and chatting on the phone while driving. This is one that is easy to avoid because you can control it. Apparently many people simply choose to talk on a handheld phone because they feel their conversation is more important than driving. Bluetooth isn’t that much better. Driving requires one hundred percent of your attention. How can you focus on driving when your mind is focused on what someone else is saying? It is simply diverting your attention from what you need to do.

Eating when driving is also dangerous. Food is hot. Not only that but we gotta fiddle with wrappers, bags, plastics. Spilled hot coffee can cause one to make sudden movements. It’s just not a good idea all around.

Playing around with the stereo too much can be distracting. I find it distracting at times even though my control knobs are on the steering wheel. Sometimes you look down because you forget where each button is and it can get a little dangerous.
