There was a time when it seemed like social networking sites were perhaps a fad that would eventually fade out. However, social media sites have become a large part of our culture and daily life. Let’s take a look at automotive systems that allow us to connect with our friends while we are on the road.

Want to be friends with your car? Some people have pet names for their cars so why not take it a step further? Toyota is developing a system that will allow owners to communicate and be “friends” with their cars. The car can send the owner messages such as when it’s time for an oil change, maintenance or any other repair service. The system is called “Toyota Friend”.

Are you addicted to Twitter and Facebook? Ford lets you hear incoming tweets over your car’s stereo speakers while you are driving. Now you never have to miss an important Tweet even while you are stuck in traffic. You won’t be able to post tweets while driving. This feature will be available in future editions of Ford’s Sync system. Ford Council Bluffs has a large selection of Ford cars with the Sync system.

Ford allows drivers to even turn their car into a WIFI hot spot. This is great if you need to pull over in a parking lot and catch up on some work. Or if you want to do some surfing during lunch time in the office parking lot. The internet is crucial to our lives and now we can have internet service follow us literally wherever we go. For repair and service in MN visit collision repair Bloomington MN.

Enterprise Used Cars offers a great selection of used vehicles to choose from including Honda, Toyota, Nissan and Ford. We look forward to helping you find the perfect used vehicle.

There are some very interesting innovations ahead in the automotive industry. Experts are working on a communication system that will allow cars to talk to one another.

Who knew cars would become so advanced and high tech? Even many of today’s cars use computer systems in order to make sure that all parts are working as they should. Many brands are utilizing radar systems in order to recognize objects in order to recognize objects and individuals. Some cars nowadays also incorporate preventative breaking and can brake if it senses a pedestrian ahead. Car Service Marin offers San Francisco Car Repairs and Bay Area Car Repair.

However, cars that are able to communicate with one another may sound like a scene from a science fiction movie; however reality is closer than you may think. Ford is working hard in order to create a common language that all vehicles will use in order to communicate. Two vehicles will be donated by Ford in order to further this project. However, plenty of tests and trials will need to be conducted before these vehicles become a reality and available on the market.

This technology has the potential to help prevent car accidents and to make life a bit easier for drivers. The car will be able to alert the driver if he or she is on a path to hit another car, when a vehicle ahead stops or suddenly slows down, when driving behavior fluctuates, when there is another vehicle in the blind spot, when the car is approaching stationary or parked vehicles, or if another driver loses control of his or her car. Drivers may be able to communicate with one another; for example, one may apologize to another if he or she accidentally cuts someone off. San Francisco Car Service and Bay Area Car Service offers luxury repair.

Law enforcement will be able to use this system to investigate accidents. Currently law enforcement conducts extensive research after an accident in order to determine the speeds of the cars during impact, the driving behavior of the parties involved and if and when the parties involved braked. Cars would just be able to gather this information instantly and provide it automatically to the appropriate agencies.Bloomington Infiniti offers great deals in Minneapolis.

These modern cars are the way of the future. Cars of the future will be more modern, advanced and cooler than ever! Las Vegas Ford Dealer Gaudin offers deals on Ford Focus Las Vegas.

No one thinks of the Taurus as a race car by any means; however the 2013 Ford Taurus SHO picks a big punch.

What stands out about the Taurus SHO is its understated looks which belie all the muscle under the hood. Ford Motor decided to kick it up a notch for 2013 and added a few modifications on the inside and outside for a higher level of performance. One of the most noticeable changes is the addition of a mesh grille for bold and edgy look. The SHO is a sports luxury sedan and competes in the same niche as the A6 from Audi and the Lexus GS350. Las Vegas Ford dealer Friendly Ford offers great deals on the F-150, Super Duty, Flex, Fusion and Expedition in Nevada.

In terms of power it gets 365 hp and 350 lb feet of torque which is unchanged from last year’s model. For those want an added boost of performance there is a performance package available. Gas mileage is pretty decent for a sports car at 31 mpg on the freeway. Handling is great thanks to torque vectoring and power electric steering. For a sportier look buyers have the option of upgrading to sweet 20 inch black wheels and black side view mirrors. Another modification is the hood; it’s been elongated and as a result it’s much smoother and contemporary looking. Ford Country serving Henderson offers a great selection of used ford trucks Henderson and is a used car dealer Las Vegas.

Now let’s examine the cool tech features inside. MyFordtouch allows the driver to listen to music, obtain accurate directions and place and receive telephone calls by utilizing voice commands via the Bluetooth system. This allows the driver to keep both hands on the wheel and concentrate on the road ahead. The interior is truly luxurious; the cabin is inviting and opulent with comfortable leather seats. As of this moment, Ford has not released official pricing figures yet. We are expecting the base model to sell for approximately twenty five thousand dollars.

Driving in the rain can be quite scary, especially if you reside in an area where it doesn’t rain quite often, such as Southern California. Most drivers hit the panic button at the sight of a rain drop. Here are a few tips to help you cope with driving on wet roads.

Always turn your lights on when attempting to drive in the rain. It’s pretty naughty to drive in the dark without your lights on but doing so in the rain adds a whole new level of recklessness.

I’ve seen quite a few instances of folks driving on the 405 freeway with their lights turned off in a pouring storm and as a result endangering all the drivers around them as well. Also remember to utilize your turn signals in order to warn other drivers of lane changes.

Don’t speed in the rain. Instead slow down since wet roads make it a lot more difficult to slow down and handle curves. However, you don’t need to slow to 35 mph as this is overly cautious and most likely to a anger and frustrate your fellow drivers out.

Leaving a very large gap between the auto in front of yours will increase your visibility. Cars will usually create huge splashes of water and spray water directly behind them on the freeway. If you follow too closely you will get caught in this mist of water and won’t be able to see anything. When I first started driving in wet weather I made the assumption that it was my own vehicle causing all of this splashing but once I switched over to a lane that was clear the splashing stopped. This made me realize that I was driving in the “after splash” of the car ahead.

If you want to reach your destination time on time, you will need to leave much earlier than you normally do. I’m talking about at least a good twenty minutes. Rain tends to cause a large number of problems in Southern California (where I reside) ranging from serious accidents, mud slides, landslides, non-functioning stop lights and even closed down freeways. Leaving earlier allows for extra time to deal with any problems which may arise.

If you are in Montclair and looking for used cars check out Used Cars Montclair. Frahm Dodge is a Used Cars Riverside with a large selection to serve the Inland Empire. Los Angeles Nissan is a dealer located in L.A, a place where it hardly rains and the weather is almost always gorgeous.

Jaguar’s XJ has maintained a proper and conservative image throughout the years as the car maker’s flagship sedan. It was luxurious but rather on the stiff and conservative side and not particularly modern or exciting. That has all changed with the new 2011 XJ. This new version is so slick and contemporary enough befitting of Mr. 007 himself!

The new headlights and swooping lines give the car and elegant and almost cat-like look. The XJ is a luxury sedan and goes head to head with the best of the best including the Mercedes S-Class, the Mercedes CLS class, the 7- series from BMW and the LS460 from Lexus.

You get to choose from either a wheel base or regular body style. There are three trim levels for both; XJ, XJ Supercharged and XK Supersport. The XJ model is equipped with an eight cylinder engine with a total output of 385 horsepower and 380 lb feet of torque. The XJ model comes with a 5.0 Liter eight cylinder for 470 horsepower. The top of the line XJ Supersport has a V8 that pumps out 510 hp and can zoom from zero to sixty in just 4.7 seconds. Since it’s made out of aluminum, this car is much lighter than other vehicles in its class. The light weight should help with higher performance levels and superior handling on the road. The lithe XJ weighs in at a mere 4,045 pounds. Cargo space is generous and roomy at 15.2 cubic feet.

This auto is world class inside and out. The interior features comfortable leather seating and upholstered door panels. The standard audio system puts out 600 watts of quality sound. You have the option to upgrade to a 20 speaker audio system produced by Bowers & Wilkens which puts out an incredible 1200 watts of sound. Double glazed windows ensure that the ride is always quiet.

Jaguar engineers built this car for safety with a wide array of precautionary measures. Every car includes an ABS brake system and front and side air bags. Active head restraints protect the neck and head area from whiplash during an accident and there is a blind spot warning system in place.

All eyes will be on you when you cruise down the street in this gorgeous car. Not only is it gorgeous but its fast and powerful. Jaguar offers a very generous maintenance program, it will provide free maintenance to all new owners of 2011 models for the first 5 years or the first 50k miles. As we all know, service performed on luxury cars can be extremely expensive and as a result this is a very good deal. The base price for the 2011 XJ is around $88k, not cheap by any means but hey, it’s a Jaguar. This isn’t a car for the bargain shopper but for the discriminating auto enthusiast who demands the best.

If you are in the market for a new luxury vehicle, visit your Bay Area Jaguar dealer for an incredible selection.

The 2010 GMC Terrain

When it comes to affordable compact SUV’s, there is no other vehicle which offers the amenities that the 2010 GMC Terrain does at such an affordable price. Looks wise, the Terrain resembles a truck, especially because of its bold and square front and distinct grille. It is available in four separate trims; the SLE-1, SLE-2, SLT-1 and upper level SLT2.

The engine that powers this SUV is a 2.4 Ltr engine with four cylinders and a total output of 182 hp. For additional power, it is possible to get the six cylinder option with 264 hp. In terms of gas mileage, the four cylinder gets 22 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the freeway. The V6 version offers better acceleration buts its gas mileage is not as good as the four cylinder version. It is best to keep the standard wheels as the ride quality has been reported to not be as smooth with the optional bigger wheels.

The interior is well crafted with comfortable seating in the front and rear. The soft red interior ambient lighting is a nice touch, especially at night. One feature found in the Terrain that is uncommon for vehicles in its class is the rearview camera, usually found on much more expensive vehicles. The cabin also stands out for being very quiet and well insulated, even at high speeds.

Standard features include a USB interface, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel, XM satellite radio and keyless entry. Cargo space is at 31.6 cubic feet and can be further expanded to 63.9 feet once you put the back seats down. The SLE-2 trim adds in temperature controlled seats, an advanced navigation system with turn by turn directions, power sunroof and a DVD player in the back to keep your passengers entertained.

A large variety of safety systems are in place in the 2010 Terrain. This includes airbags, an ABS brake system, and traction control. The seatbelts feature pretensioners which work to tighten up the belt in case of an accident. A security system prevents the car from starting if someone attempts to start the vehicle with an unauthorized key. The IIHS awarded the Terrain good scores for front, side and rear impact tests plus named it a top pick in regards to safety.

If you are in the market for an affordable compact SUV that does not skimp on amenities, the 2010 Terrain from GMC would be an excellent choice. In addition, the Terrain is great on gas which equals financial savings in the long run. With all of these pluses on its side, the 2010 Terrain definitely stands out in its class. The base cost for the 2010 Terrain is approximately in the $24k range.

This is the best bang for the buck in the automotive world. The past generations of Mitsubishi’s will make the most mediocre driver look like a pro on the racetrack. Millions of teenagers everywhere have been salivating for the new Evo X for a while now.

Well it’s finally here and it has grown up a bit. The 4B11 engine is all new and cast from aluminum. Power output from this 2.0 liter is right at 300 horsepower and torque. But the real news is the Twin-Clutch Sportronic Shift Transmission. Gone is the 5/6 speed; replaced with nice paddle shifters. I’m going to miss the old school transmission. But this is the new wave of the future.

Also new for the 2008 Lancer Evo is the barrage of active differentials….there are no less than 28 throughout this car. Maybe not that many! But with all these computer controlled mechanisms, many will have the automotive courage to walk that thin line between being in control and losing it. Visit Little Joe’s Virginia Mitsubishi Dealership to see what’s on sale.

Over the past year or two there have been many new features available as standard options or add-ons for many cars. Some of these features are revolutionary and exciting, some have been around in one form or another for years, and then there are those that died a quick death. Below is a list of 10 from Automobile News and some thoughts on each.

1. Ignition/Push Start Buttons – The first car to my knowledge to come standard with this feature was the Honda S2000. Although you still need to put a key into the ignition, the push button start was a great idea that caught on with manufacturers everywhere. BMW, Mercedes, and Lexus wasted no time in adding this to their line-up. But now this feature is even better; you don’t even need to put the key into any ignition, just have the key in your pocket and the car will start right up with the push of a button!
2. Navigation Systems – With the popularity of Magellan, Tom Tom, and other road map systems, it was only a matter of time before the in-dash navigation system would make its way onto current cars. I look forward to the day when I can afford a new car with the in-dash nav/DVD system.
3. Gas/Electric Hybrids – This has been the future of automobiles for years. Toyota and Honda know this, but it was just this year that U.S. automakers got their act together and started producing hybrid vehicles. Soon all cars will be hybrids, then electric, then gas will be dead forever!
4. Cylinder Cut-Off systems – This is by far my favorite new wave in the car industry. Cylinder Deactivation essentially turns a V-8 engine into a 4-cylinder by cutting fuel to half of the cylinder banks. This is a great way for big V-8 trucks and SUV’s to get reasonable gas mileage.
5. Paddle Shifters – We go from my favorite invention to my least favorite. In fact I hate the idea of paddle shifters on everyday cars. I feel they should be reserved for million dollar Ferrari’s that need millisecond shifts. Now cars as lowly as the Mitsubishi Lancer will get high tech paddle shifters. This marks the beginning of the end for clutch operated, hand shifted cars. I shed a tear.
6. Rear view Cameras – This option grew out of necessity. Supercars like the McLaren F1 which has the tiniest of rear windows relied on a camera to see what’s behind. Then big trucks and SUV’s like the Infiniti FX have caught onto the trend. Now many luxury cars offer this system. It makes reversing much safer and will definitely help in the area of parking.
7. Turbochargers and Smaller Engines – Again auto manufacturers like Volkswagen have used turbocharged 4-cylinder engines to produce as much horsepower as a V-8 while getting incredible gas mileage. I have always been a big fan of turbos’, which used the wasted exhaust gasses to power up.
8. Small Cars/Spacious Interiors – Again it is the Japanese sub-compact industry that sparked the rise of these cars in America. Hatchbacks have been around for years, and the folding rear seats allow for a ton of cubic space in a hatchback style car.
9. Capless Fuel Systems – Gas can evaporate! Yup this is news to me but very true. Ford is on the leading edge with their GT Supercar which features a capless fuel system. This internal sealing feature will be a trend we see on new cars in the future.
10. Information Systems – The Ford Sync provides real time traffic reports, an On-Star like feature that alerts authorities in the event of an accident, and a vehicle diagnostic system.

With these new features appearing on more new cars, the race is on for car manufacturers to provide the consumers with the newest technology.

What make this car different from the 2009 Toyota Prius Hybrid or the 2009 Honda Civic Hybrid is that this car can runs on electricity only for up to 40 miles. This will satisfy the daily commute for the majority of Americans. For longer hauls; the Volt has a regular gas engine that will kick in and power the car.

Of course regenerative breaking is a feature that will recharge the batteries to a predetermined level. Once the batteries are charged, the electric engine will turn back on. As you can guess the Volt will have get outstanding MPG on long trips and will emit hardly any emissions. As is stands the Volt produces no emissions what so ever with the electric motor running! My only question is too little too late? I mean the big U.S. automakers have been in jeopardy as of late. Why not get a hybrid out to the public when we wanted it 5 years ago?
